Migrating NAE to SNE: Operational Problem 32793 when downloading archive to SNE

I am migrating NAE45 to SNE1102 on ADX. I am following the 20 steps detailed at LIT-12013352

On the last step (#20) when I try to download the archive to the SNE from SCT I get the error "This wizzard cannot complete because it received the following error: Operational problem (32793)"
:gah:

Steps #1 to #19 are completed without errors. The only observation is that on step #6 when selecting the new model I have to choose SNE1100 because there is no SNE1102. Could that be the cause of the failure?

Searching for error 32793 I've found a suggestion to verify that Metasys III action queue service is running. Yes, it is running

The 1102 is just a revised version of the controller it has nothing to do with being able to upgrade a device the packages are the same. Are you doing this on a server or using a local instance of SCT? The Action Queue part has several things to check including what the user level the service is using. Is there a reason that you moved off SCT Pro and went back to SMP SCT?

I have had issues where the device doesn't pair correctly. I usually do it in the server and sometimes the engine to get it to show correctly.

Once you get the device configured with the name and IP address that is in your SCT database connect the SNE to your network. Once the device is on a network capable of seeing the server, try downloading it through your network. If you still cannot load the device from your laptop, try downloading the database from your server instead.

The SCT is at the same sever of the ADX.

The only thing I did on a separate computer was to set the IP and name for all the SNE. At that time I had no access to a SCT, so I used IP Angry Scanner to find the devices, and Launcher to change the IPs and names.

Today I will return to the site and I will check SCT Pro at the ADX server

Yes, I did upgrade the NAE to SNE at SCT (steps #2 to #12 of LIT-12013352) without errors.

Then I disconnect the NAE (Step #13) and remove it from Metasys Site Director (step #14)

After that I connect the new SNE that is already configured with the same IP and name, but I cannot download

I am on the site again. I have to finish it during the weekend

I have repeated all 20 steps, but now instead of commissioning the SNE in a different computer I have used SCT Pro and SMP at the same ADX server to discover them.

Same error when downloading the SNE

This wizard cannot complete because it received the following error: Operational problem (32793)

On step #19 it says "Log on to the Metasys Site Director. After a few moments, the SNE should show up in the All Items Tree". But it doesn't show up. However, the SNE is online at SCT Pro and I can access with SNE using its IP. It has the same IP and name as the old NAE

If you removed the NAE from the site in Metasys the SNE should show up and take it's place. Verify the SNE has the server listed as the site director in the focus page. It sounds like there is something that is not setup right in the SNE.

Cannot designate SNE as a child of a Site Director

New experiment:

Instead of upgrading the NAE to SNE, I have tried to create a new device with the SNE

Using Launcher I assign a new IP and device name (NAE-9), but I cannot designate the SNE as a child of a Site Director

If I create the new SNE at SMC, when I try to download it I get the same error 32793 as when I try to upgrade the NAE to SNE

1) The device is paired with the Site Director after entering the credentials. That means that there are no credentials issue

2) But when the download starts, I get the popuo with error 32793

Something is preventing the new devices to be designated as child of Site Director. What could be the cause?

That is showing a Site Director Login Error. That is why it is not allowing it to join. You need to have Administrative rights on the Metasys server to pair the SNE. It will show up if you have the Site director information put in during an upgrade or download but will not give you any information.

Oops. If I choose "Do not Pair child devices" when downloading the SNE from SCT, I also get the same error 32793

So the problem may not be the pairing. I cannot even download to a new stand-alone SNE. However, I can download to the existing NAE that are child of the existing Site Director.

I'm really confused. I don't know what to try next

Is the SNE paired and online to the ADX? If it is then it points to an issue talked about before with the permissions level of internal Metasys services. If the SNE is not properly online and paired with the ADX then you have a different problem.

#24 ·
Pairing the SNE and Site Director doesn't have anything to do with the services. If you are using the Metasyssysagent user then you should have no issues with login. I would double check you network settings and your versions for both the SNE and ADX. What is your current Site Security Level on your ADX?

#25 ·
Network settings seem to be OK. I am not using DHCP and the new SNE (named NAE-9) is accessible

SNE version is 12.0.0.3580
Image

ADX version is 11.0.0.3369
SCT version is 14.2.2.187

Could the ADX version be the issue? In that case, is there a way to demote the SNE to version 11?

#26 ·
That SNE is at v12. That is 100% your issue. The ADX has to be the or at the highest revision of all of the devices. I am surprised you have an SNE factory loaded at that version. We are still getting v11 on ours. You can reflash the SNE with a downgraded version. You would use SCT Pro and there is an option to reflash device. You need to have the images for v11 though, but the server should have them hopefully. You will need to downgrade both partitions on the SNE and you need to wait 15 minutes after the flashing completes to do any more work to the SNE, this includes SCT downloads as the SNE will be doing background process during the 15 minutes.

Thank you very much for your kind assistance! It seems like that was the issue

I spent the whole weekend trying to solve it

I do not have Metasys 12 and I do not have the SNE V11 image. I will have to ask JC if they can give it to me (we currently have no contractual agreements with JC)

#29 ·
JC did not let the installation software, but I have already managed to get the images

Flashed and working! Thank you very much for your support. Easy solution after a long weekend struggling

I hope that this thread could be useful in case anyone else get the same 32793 error

You should be careful downgrading SNE's that are shipped with a 12.0 image on them. There have been instances when once you downgrade them they work fine until you reboot them, for whatever reason they get bricked... Seen this happen twice already.

Hello,

I have a similar problem due to my SNE10502 version 14.0 and the ADS server version 11.0.

When I trigger the automatic restart of the SNE with SCTPro by upgrading to version 11.0,

After 30 minutes, the SNE still won't restart.

There's no sign that the restart request has been acknowledged by the SNE.

What should I do?

Thank you.

Hello Everyone,

I'm having a problem with the background download.
Let me explain,
When I run the automatic reset from SCTPro to change the SNE version, the download stops progressing at a certain percentage (63%).

Error message: Object reference not defined to an instance of an object

Although:
  • I changed the network type to private network
  • I added the two rules in the firewall: "Metasys (TCP Protocol)" and "Metasys (UDP Protocol)"
  • I disabled all unnecessary network cards to minimize communication errors between the SCT server and the SNE
  • I launched and kept the NAE Update Tool application open before and during the SCT download

None of these tips worked

Have you ever had a similar problem?
Can you help me?

@PID loop
@NickDeal
Thank you

Is your network profile switching back to public when the device reboots mid-flash? I've had this problem when trying to flash black engines on a direct ethernet connection. If you use a 5-port dumb switch, your connection will not refresh when the SNx reboots, thus maintaining the private property.
