It was not a smoke detector...

 

All I have is the Tech Guide for the D1SS240, which has some basic control wiring info in it (no schematic), and the Install manual for the D1SS120 which also has no wiring info in it, but some basic operation info.

I do have wiring diagrams for the D1EE/EG and D1SC models if you think they might be similar enough. I'm not at all familiar with these units.

You said you had 24 volts, AND a call for heat, right? So, that would be 24 volts measured from Common to the R terminal, and also from Common to the W terminal. In heating, the unit controls the fan.

What work were you doing on the unit that brought about this discovery?

 

IMHO heating problems like this are pretty basic trouble shooting...a meter and manometer should answer the question, even without a diagram there is only so many things it could be... not trying to be an a$$hole, just sayin

 

I appologise if that came out the wrong way, ive had a couple beers, and im not farmiliar with this unit, but i find most basic heating issues can be diagnosed in no more than 10 min... mabey im missing somthing

I think these are the old york sunshine series ,the panels all interlock on each other ,is the condenser fan grill on top and its along rectangular grill. Is this electric heat ,had some of these at a mall. I got a wiring diagram from my york dealer by getting information on compresssor and if this has a circuit board ,the york part numberd from board ,I hope this helps .Send picture of Rtu

I just sent the OP something I found in a google search, via PM.

I have several locations that use these old beasts. They have a massive relay logic control board, and if the OP has never worked on one, this will be a real learning experience, that's for sure.

 

I meant for the new one. But I would love to see the old one and its controls

Nothing too exiting to see there, the old ice cube relays board was made by P&B and are not longer available, the liquid line dryers were fastened to the bottom of the unit and with time they rust out and leak, the heat exchanger lasted a lot longer than the predators, the inducer assembly rots out quick, spark module fails....POS

 

The D1SS is the next generation of the SS series. I cut my teeth on these and miss them very much (sniff, sniff). pour model indicates a gas-fired 400,000 btu 230V 3-phase custom unit. I remember correctly, the 240 has an 031-00254 relay board with 24V & 120V relays. The board was troublesome after a few years of service and would break the solder connections to the relay bases. You can wiggle the relays and sometimes get them to run. The best bet is to remove the board (or turn it upside-down...soooo many wires) and re-solder the broken connections. You have to look closely to see where they are broken. If you have 24V at 119 & common (123?) and also 24V at W1, this may be your problem. There is a safety switch in the evap section near the blower housing, but I forget if it knocks out the entire unit or just the heat. The CamStat limit controls the fan when in auto mode. MAN, it feels good to talk about these again!!

A nightmare reminder of Yorks brilliant innovation of using all white wires. I haven't seen one of those in a long time and don't miss them one bit

 

I remember the D1SS units from my early days in the field. Is the one you have the one with the big relay board about 12" by 18" ?
