Yellow dripping on outside air conditioning coils. Am I screwed?

Went to turn on AC since finally getting above 90 in Atlanta. Anyways the furnace blower turns on but not the compressor outdoors. Trying the typical do-it yourself things, still no luck. Finally removed access panel to see if any fried wiring etc. Lo and behold the capacitor had ruptured, pretty simple and inexpensive fix.

However while I was looking at that, I noticed a big yellow dripping down on the outside of the compressor coils like yellow candle wax had dripped down from the top of the coil down. Am I screwed? what's the solution? New system? New air conditioner?

The equipment is Trane, approx 11-12 years old, XV90 furnace & XL14i air conditioner.

No. You're not screwed at all.

Sounds like the yellow wax is actually the glue that Trane uses on the aluminum fins. I wouldn't be alarmed.

Run the system, if it doesn't keep the desired temp then give a local A/C contractor a call.

Btw, my company is located in Cumming and my email is in my profile.

Let me start.

Please have a tech look at both problems. No DIY here. We could only guess. Honey bees?

Heck a guess is fine on the yellow stuff. Actually I'm waiting on a tech, due to the heat wave, wont be here till maybe Weds. But they wanted a description of the problem.
If I could figure out how to post a pic I, I could show the yellow stuff

If I need new system, I have a guy that only does installs, no repairs, so I need to do some research. Actually when I sought bids on the that system, I had the model nbrs and part nbrs for the components. The quotes were from $ to $, all for the same stuff.

Here's some pics, yellow stuff & fried capacitor

Ah, figured out how to insert a couple of pics. The yellow stuff pretty much runs all the way down the coils the other is a picture of the capacitor. I think I need a new one??? At least i can tell the serive tech when he calls to schedule my appointment.

The yellow goo is factory installed... Notice the pic posted above. It's normal.

The wiring needs a pro to fix, call ANY service tech and you will be cooling again soon.

The yellow goo is NOT a problem.

That's the glue from the factory. No issues it was like that when new.
Let the tech service your unit and fix the capacitor issue. Those units will run a good long time providing they were installed correctly.
Find a good service/installer you can trust that doesn't try and push sales on you. Someone who has your best interests in mind.

6 of have explained the glue is factory.

Do not worry. Shut off power to the unit and get a tech out. You should be running in no time.

That's the plan. Was more worried about the yellow stuff & what the tech might say. Was worried he'd tell me the whole unit is shot. Last time he was here, told me Trane units only last about 10 years, I should be looking to replace it. Sometimes not sure if the tech is a really tech or salesman in disguise.
