Where is the solenoid valve located on a heat pump unit

Hello my fellow compadres, I have a couple of questions and would like some feedback. Where is the solenoid valve suppose to be installed on a heat pump inside or outside that’s about 80’ of refrigerant line sets? How would a solenoid valve be hard wired on a communicating system like a carrier infinity heat pump that only has 4 wires? I’ve seen solenoid valves installed on the liquid line inside and outside on certain jobs but have also noticed no solenoid valves being added to long line sets HVAC jobs. Thanks in advance!

Why not look up the long lineset publication for the brand. Seen some say by indoor coil if outdoor unit is mounted higher or lower than the indoor section, seen some say ( close ) by the outdoor unit, using HP rated SV.

Assuming liquid line solenoid, wire to energize with the compressor, recommend with a pilot relay. Install solenoid at low level point in the liquid line, to prevent gravity drain.

Read the manual associated with the unit.

I remember carrier wanting the arrow pointing the opposite way of the cooling mode.
