Working on an old upright beverage cooler with R12 refrigerant. Everything seems to be working, just not cooling. No service ports. Can these be converted to any other type refrigerant?

Yep because as soon as you hook your gauges to the unit your pulling a lot of the refrigerant out. On small refrigeration putting gauges on is the last step for me. Most of these systems hold only ounces.Use short hoses!!!
Use some common sense. Is the discharge line hot? Whats your evap coil temp? T.D.?
