It's been 10 months and counting since I could make it across I-35W in Minneapolis since our bridge fell down. Our shop is just a few miles from there located right off of Highway 280 which they are using for the detour. What is funny, though, is since that road has become the detour it has actually taken me less time to get to the shop because they took out the stop lights and blocked off access to some of the cross streets to try to get traffic to flow better. It usually does flow better and I will be kind of sad when they put the stop lights back in and change it back to the way that it was.

What is also funny is because everyone around is still pretty freeked out about bridges, they have been going around inspecting all of them and have decided to shut down a few bridges in the area causing lots of traffic headaches for a lot of people. Oh, did I mention that we get to deal with the Replublicans swarming our twin cities for their convention in a couple of months. I am still glad I don't have to deal with I-290 in Chicago though:eek:

One to two hours drive time is typical in Southern California, I field complaints from customers weekly about how our man was only there for one hour and he charged two. I could not imagine it here if we had weather like some of you guys have.

Honestly, My largest contract is 5 minutes from my house... 7 if I catch all the lights. One end of town to the other is 7 minutes on the highway. Mmm, I think I like it here. Some of my work is out of town... in smaller cities or towns than this. :D Once quit a job I'd had up here for 7 years because they wanted my to start commuting to Toronto. Uh-uh. I did the traffic thing when I was younger. Wouldn't trade this for anything.

Never anyone impotent enough... er.. important enough to wanna come here either.
