I did change outs on a couple of stores over in the Dayton area...we let the crane company haul off the old units...but they did cut us a pretty good deal on setting the new ones! We set 8 units that were 25 ton Lennox L series and one 5 tonner in just under 5 hours...not too bad...
how you like them lennnox RTU's? i have very limited time with them. in the last year i have worke on 5 rtu's and all trane. my mom works at a resturant that has lennox units on it and i worked on one for them a couple months ago. looked like someone took apart a laptop computer and stuck it in the control panel  but i found it very easy for trouble shooting. i really am liking their rtu's, but based on only that one i worked on :( oh how i would love to do more commercial work

They aren't bad...only had limitted time with them as they were replacing the 10 year old GCS units that were there before them. The computer is a nice feature once you learn how to use it...not much info you can't get from them. You been working on the Voyagers from Trane?? They just built a new Lowe's here close to my house....noticed they went back to the Tranes. (Had a contract to only do Carrier for a while) I had about 30 stores I took care of....Mostly Voyagers....heard the new Voyagers are getting pretty computerized as well.

Yes they are getting preatty computerized, which is going to get some techs that are not up to date on their trainning shakeing their heads.

man carrier makes the easiest rtu ever!!!

trane will always try to make things more complicated :)

lennox will always succed in making things more complicated :D

i think that the new voyages are a huge improvement!!! i like the new ones better than the older UCP boards!! what a PITA

its all going relia-tell, version 1 thousand 2 LMAO

Carrier has the simplest RTU,now! I recall when I was fresh out of school, going to an old Carrier RTU with all them yellow wires with black stripes on them. That was by far the most difficult unit I had worked on to that date.I can say that I was very confident about my abilities as far as a young Technician, but you always need a humbling unit like that to make you an even better Tech.JMHO

i agree, and a few of those residential lannox units where all the wires turn completely white after like 2yrs!! gota love them!!

The Lennox's unit are not bad at all, compared to what they use to be.But once you figure one of them out, they all make so much more sense than what they did before.
I know that I have had some techs that I know complain to me about the Amana HTM systems and I would always say, once you get the hang of them, they are so easy to work on.

yeah amana makes a pretty easy unit to work on. made tons of money for removing rust from the manifolds on them units :D

had a tif zx1 had nothing but problems with it. bought the d-tek like everyone told me to, and have nothing but success with it. the d-tek is made by infinicon- so i would use anything along thier line of products :)

what kind of probs? I have had mine a few months and I think it works as well as the d-tek.

Although I will say the new d-tek compared to the old style is not as good. I prefered when they had the sensor in the tip.

D-Tek Select is a very good detector, however not being able to use it while it is charging is a major downside for me.

I use the H-10, never let me down, always found all leaks. They are pricey if bought from supply house. I have found some near new condition at pawn shops for less than half.

I used to have a Mars Top Gun wich is the H10x.

Here is a link on ebayhttp://cgi.ebay.com/Yokogawa-H10X-PRO-MARS-TOP-GUN-2-REFRIG-LEAK-DETECTOR_W0QQitemZ110234177877QQihZ001QQcategoryZ53298QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It was great. I am union now and they supply it to me. Now I have a D-Tek. It's ok too.

Ditto! but they got the car charger :D
Hey guys, you actually CAN use D-TEK Select while it's charging. When we first released it in 2004, we didn't have that feature, but it was added back in not too long after (maybe 2005 or 2006), so any units you buy now will definitely have that feature. So if you have a really old D-TEK Select, it won't, but anything in the last 10 years should be able to.
