Is asking for some ideas as to what to use to snake a drain line a DIY question??
15 year old drain line, never had a problem, kept a mild bleach solution poured a few times a year. Last night it clogged for the first time ever, and when I wet-vac'ed from the outside, ORANGE water came out. About a half gallon. And I mean ORANGE - as in like somebody mixed orange juice and orange soda. And a bit of what appeared to be orange calcification-bits. No idea what that was all about. Anyway, things are fine now but I figure it is probably wise to try and snake something through there to gently loosen up any potential remnants. Maybe some type of soft/flex piping?
Actually this just occurred to me... maybe I should go buy 20 feet of 1/2" soft flex tube from Lowes and connect that to the wet vac, then just gently run in through the drain line and back out. That should break up and also remove any remnants in there, I would think.
