I have had trouble with the sheild that that the eyes set in not sealing properly and not to cause a false indication that the bin was full. They have to be in th right spot to " see" the ice. Can be no fun when its on top of a dispensing bin..

Hi all newby here. I have been reading thru the forum and have not found a solution. I am working on a CM3 506AE with the so it seems common full bin light on. I cleaned the sensors as described with ice machine cleaner light still on. Replaced the eyes/sensors and still light on. Next replaced the control module and still light on. what are your thoughts?
Thanks

It's strange that you have not been able to resolve this issue. I came across this similar problem multiple times and thanks to the experts in this forum i was able to get things right either by washing the sensors or, in some cases, by replacing them.

generally if the sensors don't respond to cleaning they need to be replaced. The link will talk you through the troubleshoot procedure. .

I just registered so I can't post links however the scotsman webpage has troubleshooting procedures for both the blue and black controllers. You can google it I believe fairly easy.

Yes I did install the universal (blue) control unit. It is exactly like the original controller and part #. Both eye units are seated with the deflector in the correct place.

Did you install the universal controller ?
Yes it is the universal control unit, blue one and it is clocked to 0 for model designation. It does exactly the same as before,
unplug let reset plug in machine it starts up goes into freeze mode compressor runs for about a minute then shuts down. Bin full light is on continually.

No, the front panel is the only part off. I reinstalled both side panels after installing the new eyes, after that didnt work removed only the left panel to install the new controller.

Maybe the sensors you installed aren't matching properly. I would suggest you go back to all the original parts and simply wash the original sensors with a tooth brush and soap. Then reinstall them with the original controller.
Best of luck.

The first thing I did was pull out and clean the eyes with ice machine cleaner using a tooth brush. there was scale on them but they cleaned up good, no visable cracks. I thought at the time this would solve the problem, but new eyes and control board later still the same bin full light on. It is possible the new eyes were faulty. I will put the old eyes back in today and see if anything changes.

Is it worth pulling the bin sensors out and positioning them toward each other while plugged in to see if they see each other? Has anyone tried this? Better yet I will try this with the old sensors since they are out and easy to check.
