Regarding flame sensors to me it seemed some Carrier 90%ers were the worst. It would be either the HSI or the flame sensor was very tough access. I had a long probably 18" flexible 1/4" driver to reach the flame sensor for removal. I also had 2 very long angled needle nose pliers. One I had Scotch Brite on and the other I had cloth to wipe it down after the Scotch Brite to do it in place. It actually worked well.

Do u have a pic of the pliers u modded ?
Some lennox are hard to get to also .....

I don't I gave them away, I'm retired. They were app 1 foot long with the curved tip. They can be had all over, Harbor Freight etc from $4 and up probably. Just wrap the tips and secure them with Scotch Brite and one with a clean cloth. Only used them in the worst case scenarios.
