I have an Aprilaire 600, and the automatic humitistat recently died. The tech installed a manual version that needs to be adjusted based on the outdoor air temperature. The edges of the windows will fog up on cold days with it set it 35%, and anything lower than that is uncomfortable to use for an extended period of time. For a while, I would check the weather several times per week, go into the furnace room, climb up on a chair, and adjust it. I got tired of this, so I just leave it set to a low setting all the time to keep the windows dry. If I get it replaced with another automatic one, will it automatically adjust everyday based on the outdoor temperature, or only long periods of time? How often do most people adjust their manual humitistats (everyday, or just a couple times per season)? Is the automatic model worth it? Do they have more problems, like my HVAC guy said? Also, the furnace is over-sized and only runs 5 minutes at a time. So I never really get above 35% on warmer days.
Thank you
