It would be a lot funnier if they had a trap door over the fan-incase you needed to change the compressor.

Ive seen a few of these, one I know of is an old Maytag that they built a deck over, you have to crawl in fifteen feet to get to it, and you can't get the fan out. Needless to say it died a horrible death.

20 years ago Sis lived in a townhouse. Cement patio by the front door of hers and neighbors, stairs up either side. Bushes solid in front of it. Under said entryway was 2 clunker GE condensers. Hers quit so I had to crawl through the bushes under there where I found a fuse blown. With just the neighbor's running, I about passed out from the heat under there. Lucky they were GE Climatuffs I guess.
 
i have seen one similar location it was a packaged heat pump set in a corner spot underneath the deck with about a foot of spacing from bottom of deck not sure why someone thinks it is acceptable
