I have a costomer that has a 1983 RRBD seires Rheem 3 ton package unit. The unit is set up for natural gas and would like to convert it to propane. This unit has never been started,IT looks like brand new.The local dealer hasn't been any help saying its to old to find any literature. Is there a web site that might help me find parts needed for the conversion.Any throughs would be appreciated.

You probably will have to "wing it". May need new gas valve, orifices, & low pressure switch. Only do if you are comfortable with it, & have experience with gas conversions.

If you can't get new orfices for the burners you can peen them and re-drill them to the correct size. Your local gas utility may even do the whole job for you. You will also need a new pilot orfice (assuming it has a pilot. You may be able to get a new reg for the gas valve or replace the valve and you are done. It's easy. Ken

LP Kit part # APE-1.

If they can't cross that over to a modern number:

LP burner orifices 62-20003-55

LP pilot orifice 62-21384-02

W-R gas valve, they don't list a spring kit in the parts list. If you can't get the LP kit, may have to check with a W-R supplier for parts or change the gas valve. Part # 36C84-221
