On the manual it shows there is a suction service isolation valve. But on the system im working on does not have it. Only isolation I see is on the discharge off the compressor and on the liquid line service valve. In order to change the oil filter in the compressor, do I need to recover the entire system?.

Assuming the charge will fit in the condenser and your valves hold… you should be able to utilize the pump down option with the liquid line closed then recover remaining refrigerant. Is there a reason for changing the filter? Low Oil Flow alarm?

I’m currently working on a rtud. There is a suction valve that has a black cap on. It’s easily overlooked. But, it’s there. Should have 4, 1/2 in bolts holding the cap on. Take cap off and that will give you access to the valve stem.
