I took and passed the Nate test when it first came out over 15 years ago thinking it would make me a better tech or at least show present and future employers I knew as much or more than other techs. I can't really say it has. No one has ever asked about it, or offered more money because I was Nate certified. So who really benefits for Nate other than the people who dreamed up this bougus test inorder to profit from the thousands of techs out there. Lets face it anyone of us can create a test, market it and in sell it to the public, that only Nate certified techs should be working on ther equipment. Then sit back and let the money roll in from the fees they charge to give this test. Ask yourself this. When you pull your service truck into the nearest Jiffy Lube or other quick oil change center, do you feel better that your Oil Change Technician has been certified to change oil by the ASE. I don't. By the way I still work on my own personal truck and car.
