Units that were field charged didn't list it as r22. They listed the unit has nitrogen or argon.
Atleast from what I remember.

I don't know how you got a 2014 unit listed as r22?

As a side note, it's not going to be possible to legally remove the refrigerant, pressure test and pump down without fixing the leak.

This is because with a leak, you won't pass a vacumm test.

Atleast from my recollection of the EPA regs, but I may be wrong.

Legally with this whole job went by by a long time ago!

He's a photo of the manufacturer sticker. What you're saying is that even though it says field charged, it wasn't? The tech keeps referring to it as a dry unit at install.

Eh, it does say field charged not factory.
May have always been mo99. But I doubt it.

The tech that Field charged it was responsible for correcting the tag. Basically scratching out R-22 and writing What refrigerant was used.

If I came upon that unit I would treat it like R-22 and NOT top off with MO-99

Have them pull the entire charge, change the drier, triple evacuation and recharge

That guy is speculating, if they can show paperwork showing how many pounds of MO99 they installed then fine, and the hack who put mo99 recently just got lucky. I'm willing to bet though that they have zero paperwork because no start-up report was done and they are trying to sidestep out of the hole they are in

I just got to the bottom of it. Drove down and peeled back the MO99 sticker to find an R-407C sticker underneath. The tech literally put the MO99 right on top. Now there's no way they can turn down pulling the entire charge and starting over. What should I request goes back in, the original R-407C or MO99? Any idea how much damage this has done to my unit over the last month?

Because it contains POE oil I don’t see a major issue.

I would use R-407C if it was me!
