The heart was in the right place and thats really all that matters.... Maybe they got charged a fortune to haul a hose upon the roof 300+ feet.

I've seen that units inside plants where there's lots of debris in the air. I've even recommended it for chillers that sit inside.

not sure how well it would work outside though.

If the filters are changed weekly, I don't see a problem. We used media on indoor self contained units at Pizza Hut and Chinese restaurants. Pizza hut uses an aerosol "release" agent on their pans which gets sucked into the condensers. Chinese restaurants use peanut oil and that was created by the devil.

why you put filter on condenser coil ?
keep it clean ? ok i got that
but this one was on a roof in Florida, no need for filter to keep it clean
any other suggestions ?
Any other suggestions for what? If the coil is dirty, clean it. If the customer insists on filters, change them often. There are thinner filter media available than what is shown in the picture

and kill the compressor or condenser fan motor
my question is: why you put filter in front of condenser coil when there is no need to keep it clean from dirt, since is a clean place, plus water was on the roof no need to pull 300 ft hose from another place.

If unit is in FL, it might be there for the duration of the "love bug" season which is much worse than cottonwood fluff in my estimation..

...and peanut oil (as well as others) converts into an epoxy plastic coating with time, heat and dust.... Gadzooks I hate kitchen refrigeration. And those who call themselves professional cooks.....

If it prevents service calls and is cheaper than cleaning coils every few months, more power to them.
