I thought Florida had laws now to try to keep all types of hacks from ripping people off after the hurricanes? maybe they are just trying to protect public interest by enforcing those laws.

These tatics seem a little extreme,

Instead of holding up the whole world..all they have to do is stake out some supply houses...

In my daily travels I see these infractions all the time..

I joined "Conditioned Air Assoc. of Ga." last year because their primary objective was to stop this activity..

So far all I have gotten out of this is an invitation for a three day golf trip...

My Bad... :D

Eeewwwwwww....I had lunch with a troll!

Anywho, is this any worse then Delaware having a jobsite staked out for checking the license plates of all vehicles on the site to see if the owners of those vehicles had business licenses in the state of Delaware? That's what the slimeball Delaware gestapo did to me!

So I read this earlier today and I have to admit I’m undecided. U S Freedoms, Post 9-11, Patriot Act( I don’t like that one). I stop in and have a drink and read the Newsday. This is what I see.

http://www.newsday.com/news/local/l...cal/longisland/ny-licont204709289apr20,0,7908092.story?coll=ny-linews-headlines

I personally spent 4 days working at the World Trade Center site, breathing God knows what, Looking for survivors (we knew on wed morning it was a waste of time but you try) Digging with our hands, so OUR GOVERNMENT can pull this kind of BS.

I didn’t object after 9-11 having my Van searched at the Midtown Tunnel every day both ways. I didn’t object about the check points in lower Manhattan the closer you got to ground zero. Hell I kept a cooler with bottle water and gave it to the National Guard Troops complements of the restaurant owners. After a while we were on first name.

It has been 4 Years +. Enough is enough.

If I leave Home Depot, Lows, Riverhead Building Supply whatever, what I do with that material is my business, Not Uncle Sam's, Not New York State's, Not Suffolk County's, Not Southold Town's.

If they wish to challenge me while I’m doing a job fine. But Not while driving down a Public Road

I agree with Murphy and the others....that's horse crap. Were they checking to see if you owed any back taxes while they were at it? I'll stick with my original post, they would have been screamed at. Unless it's an amber alert or an escapee search, you better not pull me over for no reason.

its a question of "probable cause". if your'e stopped & they ask permission to search & you decline thats probable cause that you are hiding something.if you ask "whats your probable cause & what are you searching for?"anything they find from another category is "fruits of the forbidden tree" & should easily be thrown out in court.(unless you live in texas)but i bet your'e allowed a little helper stuffed up under the seat in texas eh? my guess is they take building materials or a vehicle set up for construction as probable cause.

That's not true at all. If they stop you and want to search your vehicle, ALWAYS tell them NO. If they persist, and threaten a warrant, tell them to get it. The warrant has to state what they're looking for, so if your stupid helper dropped a roach under your seat, it's inadmissable in court. State you know your Miranda rights.
I know plenty of law-abiding people who have been d!cked over by the cops.

Actually sir, the ONLY proper response to the question about searching you is "I do not consent"...
If you say NO, they could search and then say, I asked "do you mind if I search your car"... Saying NO would actually mean saying yes in that situation.
I learned this one from a lawyer..
Also, the guy who said refusing to let them search is probable cause is flat wrong...

I have to laugh whenever I see these idiots on COPS who get busted with something like weed in their trunks think that if they let the cops search, the cops will think they have nothing to hide and not bother wasting their time.. ROFLMAO!!! Morons... Always say I do Not Consent no matter if you have something to hide or not...

I agree with your "I do not consent" statement, and yes they ask you six different ways to sunday to try to get you to allow them to. Most people are shaking when they're pulled over and consent right away. A lady I know spent six months in the clinker because her son (18+) had borrowed her car and left a bong in her trunk from a party they had. she paid the price. Pulling you over to check for a contractors license is 100% wrong IMO. like was stated earlier, if you see someone doing work then you can ask.

oh i didnt mean i would ever give permission to search but there are rules of seach & seizure.perhaps they have changed since my police science classes.
for example if the officer saw a cartridge on the dashboard & stated that as probable cause to search for a weapon then found your helpers roach it would not be admissable in court.if he declined to give cause & say what he was seaching for thats an illeagle search.asking his probable cause serves notice that if he doesn't find specificly what he is searching for or if his probable cause doesn't hold up as valid after your lawer gets through with it he is s.o.l.
this is calif.if you buy a used car i think they come with a roach under the seat.
the only searches ive been through in the last 30 yr. or so were in mexico.(these rules dont apply)
