CAn Signal be transferred from a 98 machine to to 2000 machine without buying Siganl for XP? Or another question; will the Siganl XP work on a 2000 machine?

You can get the old Signal to work on WinME (The worst OS ever made), but I have not had any success runnning it on 2000 or XP, I have never tried going backward with it from XP, but I would guess that it will not work.

I do know that running it under Microsoft Virtual PC does not help either,

I have put it on an XP station at a site then allowed remote access with remote desktop, for remote access to the graphics, takes some doing though.

I can get past the Hasp 3 but not the Hasp 4,

What version are you running anyway ?

I think 4.4.0 was the cutoff for y2k anyway, is your version older than that ?

I have had no luck with getting either the Signal 4.4.1 (win 98 version) or Signal 5.0 (or what ever is the Signal XP version) to work in Windows 2K ...

Mind you I gave up after some hours of attempts ...

It requires a hasp, Code.
It's a HASP 4, from what I have heard it can not be done.

It is probably an Invensys Signal XP Demo Version that they give to some of the Field Offices if they ask for it (it is intended as a technician tool for the Field Offices and not as a version for an owner to have).

And yes the demo version is a full blown version of Signal with all of the options and unlimited monitoring screens. The only thing different is you don't need the HASP.

I imagine we probably have one laying around somewhere, we just bought a Signal for each tech to use as a backup and graphics tool.There were some costs involved with that.

I believe this is the case.
I only use it to dial into customer sites from my laptop and have been able to restore several databases of different sizes to it without a problem.

I don't know what the licensing agreement is with it, but it's probably frowned upon.
