Hello I have been having issues lately with fault 13 limit lockout. After much research and testing I believe it is due to my lennox pureair sysytem MERV filter. Is there any suggestions on how to overcome this issue?

Back story:

No issues for 10yrs with lennox pure air system installed (MERV filter). Last year we had bad wild fires for most of the year, very thick smoke for months and I do mean thick. Come this winter my furnace malfunctioned, had to replace the limit switch, flame sensor, ignitor (melted wire) and filter. My guess is that the filter got so clogged it restricted the furnace air flow and burned them up (overheated). Since I have repaired the issues but when I install the filter it will run for a random amount of time till I get the fault 13 again. Can shutoff and it will work again for some time till it happens again. But if I remove the filter completely it will run without issue. I have also made sure all vents are open, since that was another suggestion I read. Obviously I dont want to run without filter so I need to figure out what can be done or what the issue is. I cant involve a outside service tech at this time because I am housing family that is at major risk from COVID and can not risk people coming into the house. Plus I can repair anything myself as well and have all the tools, so no need for a tech and the cost of one.

Here are my specs:

Infinity Carrier

Furnace: 58MVC080-F-10114
software version: CEDR131312-13

SYSTXCCITC01-B
software version: 131626-03.60

Lennox PureAir model: PCO14-23

Thanks in advance!

Could very well be. That model, as it shows in the link, is included in a class action lawsuit for a faulty secondary heat exchanger.
All of these will eventually fail if something else doesn’t take the furnace out first.
They all should have regular combustion tests done.

Do you have an updated website? Looks like that documentation is outdated and the website is gone now.

As stated in my first post, I have at risk family staying with me, the furnace is located right in between 2 rooms that they are staying in. So for the time being I have to try to fix it myself. Until they get the vaccine and are healthy I cant risk it. Plus I can do whatever is required to fix it myself anyway. At some point I will be able to have a tech come out but till then I am trying to figure this out myself.

The link still seems to work for me.
Unfortunately we cannot be of any assistance here, to instruct you on how to fix it yourself. Per the site rules.
The first step should be a combustion analysis.

No you can’t. This is beyond your abilities.
First off, you dont know my abilities, this isnt quantum physics or string theory here, its a HVAC system. I have 2 advance degrees, one in electrical engineering and another in computer science. I have the tools and ability to do many things, built my house, my race car, built electronics more advanced than what is used on the HVAC system, worked on jet combustion, power plant generators, etc. This is some simple stuff comparatively. But thanks for the advice, not.

I'll try the link from my desktop, maybe that is the issue. I'll run some more diagnosis and a combustion test as well. I feel it has something to do with the airflow or pressure in the system. Blowers, fans, coils, exchanger, etc all look clean and dont see any other types of blockage. What I dont understand is that the system has been well maintained and running just fine till this issue, which I believe was my fault not replacing the filter quick enough with the bad air quality we had, I should have thought about it. Thanks for the advice.

And neither degree qualifies you to do this. Add to that you do not have the equipment or training needed.

Biggest thing to know is “Your Limitations”!
I have the equipment, I have a 6 car shop full of tools, pretty much everything you can think of. As for the training, I have experience, I have installed my own HVAC in my shop. This isnt difficult stuff here. I have manuals, documentation, etc, I can teach myself what I dont know. But I'm glad you can judge someone you dont know. Believe me it's not outside my abilities, not even close.

As stated at the top of the category, this is not a DIY site. We can only give general advice.

You don't need guesswork here, you need a professional to come and measure airflow, static pressure, etc. There are several things that could cause this, and as mentioned above there might be a recall or TSB for your unit.

Please call a factory authorized professional before someone gets hurt.

Thank you

Mod Team.
