today i encountered a bad water pump for a iceomatic 0240 .. anyway, no suppliers in NJ carry this crappy brand ..im sure i can order one from out of state but there is a pump that a local supplier claims is universal that little giant makes but i have never used it & i am unsure if i can make it work with the mount.... it mounts to a stainless 3 sided bracket which also protects from splash ..i normally stick to OEM at times like this ....but i want to get my customer up & running ASAP ..i can get them unlimited ice for backup but still .... this unit sux so bad... i am just curious have any of u been in this sort of quagmire with this crappy brand .. if so can i get some insight .... BTW ...what a cheesy piece of crap .. i hope their newer stuff isnt this bad .... why cant everyone have either a hoshi, manitowoc, or scotsman >?

I've been pushina and sellin Hoshi's for the past few years, customers are starting to want price savings over value around here. Manitowoc is were I ended up on a sale today due amount of production, cost, FAIRLY reliable..?

I was general manager for the 2nd largest Kold-Draft distributor. When Kold-Draft went chapter 11 we took on the Ice-O-Matic line. Within a month I bought the rental division so I wouldn't have to sell Ice-O-Matic. In Ontario, if you can believe it, we have 3 different distributors for Ice-O-Matic all selling in the same area. BTW Kold-Draft tripled their parts prices up here in Canada. Did they seriously raise prices in the States?
Why do "you guys" seem to hate everything out there? I have not seen a piece of equipment that can not be made better (with 20/20 hindsite), doesn't matter who the mfg is. Cap tube problems are here because of poe oil and plugged condenser coils. want to solve the problem install a HPCO and go with a larger ID cap tube, next time you replace the cap tube. However, because of the extra cost the customer will probably decline it. Its all about having the lowest cost, some people never learn. I tell my customers once about having those coils cleaned and ice makers serviced. Some take the advice others don't, in the end they all pay its just a matter of time.
Manitowoc and Hoshi are by far the leaders. I can't stomach the rest. Just replaced the original board on a '95 B model the other day. That unit still had all it's original parts on it and it still rocks. As for True, the t'stats suck. The newer units now have Danfoss. If it's out of warranty I slap in a A12-701. Will last much longer.
