I probably read and train about 2-4 hours on the weekend on average but during the week its usually just before bed or not at all depending on time and really the season I'm in if I can do it.

How much time do you spend learning and reviewing ?

Whenever I am breathing.

A teacher told me that . The way you get good at the trade is not to study for hours on end and to read something that is trade related for 20 mins a day. Kind of like mediation

The supply houses always have a ready supply of stuff to take home & read. Mags, etc, area good source of up-to-date information.

In reality probably the third choice, however I checked the second.

I do probably 2 weeks a year give or take of classes above and beyond CE classes.

And about half my time at H-talk is reading Educational or Building Science stuff.

And lets not forget that running calls and doing unusual installs is the better part of how most of us learned the HVAC trade.

SO: I suspect we all do 10-15-20 hrs a week.

I learn daily so I can replace what I am forgetting. :grin2:

I appreciate all of the people here who share their wisdom and knowledge.

1973 to now and have always learned something everyday even if it meant just an attitude towards picking up on it. Family has forced me to stop learning or talking HVAC in their presence so they do not go insane hearing about it! So I'm a HVAC addict! Oh well, my call backs are all but none and I am highly respected in my field. I just cannot get my wife to lift the hex she put on me of being a dog with glasses on! (Profile Photo) :grin2:

I was educated in the class room, hence my "AFTER" is not countable.

I learn when I am working, ie: I was educated not to touch the hot pipes after I braze them, I "learned" not to touch them when I squiggled in between the lines to reach the odd ball one, resulting in a learned burning feeling = CRA&^$#&(^@ MF ^%(& SO ^% p !

Any tech worth a groggs fart will tell you the learning "NEVER" ends..........

You will learn when to get more "EDUCTION"..............

Now I will go back to my bucket and ponder what I have "LEARNED" here...........

God help me when I go to sleep and have to remeber all this again tomorrow !!!
