Heat Pump Water Heater in Attached Unconditioned Garage

I may soon need to replace my gas water heater located in the garage. This garage is a few feet below grade but by no means is it a basement. In central Georgia, the garage is very hot in summer even with its 2 windows open. It gets cold in winter but not cold enough to freeze water.

Is this garage a good candidate for a heat pump water heater?

I would definitely checked the max ambient temperature that the water heater is rated to operate in and take note that you get close to freezing is going to shut down and the electric backup heat will turn on.
