I just found out today the new software bundle requires a significant annual fee to sell or service their product.

Just wanted to hear what everybody else thought about it.

do you need the FX tools? or are you ok with AX workbench?
I stopped by the local rep to get pricing for a FX-40. I need the software since I just changed jobs and I have a customer looking to upgrade a N30 / M3 I installed a few years ago.

Rep told me as of Oct. 1, I need the new software bundle. He said it has FX tools and I think he said FX supervisor. Part number LP-FXTLEX-0. All or some (I don't recall) of the new hardware will not work with the old software.

Initial purchase of the bundle is over three large. Two every year after. Comes with licenses for fifteen machines.

Sucks for small businesses or those that just like to dabble.

Well, then you will need to move to using servers that have no licensing or annual fees... I think all of the following apply:

Loytec
Inet Supervisor
Plexus

I'm not familiar with Inet Supervisor but it's getting more popular. I'm familar with older Plexus Altitude and it's JAVA based display and I always thought they had some nice ideas. And, of course the Loytec hardware is solid.

AX doesn't have similar costs?

Nothing physically, a FX-40 = a JACE-403, a FX-20 = a JACE-200 a FX-60 = a JACE-600. The FX line has the N2 driver, that is it on the upside of a FX. The downside, is it has a memory hog appliance that is gay, and JCI is nortoriously slow on keeping up on the curve with updates.

Yes it can, and the rev of java has nothing to do with it.

I would go with Vykon , and have a source to buy FX's if needed.

thanks freddy,

what I have now is a VYKON 403 with 2 Honeywell Xl10's
software rev 2

can the hardware and software be upgraded? to AX

Freddy, in a nut shell what should I buy for software???

so if I plan to use JCI MSTP controllers or any other LON field controllers the JACE-600 is the way to go?

No, I dont think so. At least not at the field level.

I would go with the Vykon AX Workbench or HW Webs.

Fot the mstp , if you can get your hands on CCT, I dont see why not.
For LON, I prefer Distech for the AX wizards are free and the controllers are nice. Or if you can get the good LN series from JCI (rebadged Distech) at a better price..go for it. Dont bother with the FX field controllers..of any flavor.

Busted on what? Location? That's funny.

So how much do you want to wager on that on sys? A year's salary, or more than that? You probably have plenty to spare.

Payable, of course in cash $100 bills, when you come to my house, in NW Ohio.
Easy money.
