Are you still using the same type of filter that you did before? Do you cover up the slot where the filter slide in. You might need a better filter, If you can read a news paper throught the filter it will only catch large particals. Check the entire return duct. Might not be sealed at all seams and connections.

Do you have children or animals that might be bringing in this dust. The dust has to be brought somehow. Is the dryer leaking this dust (Lint)

No pets or children. Floors upstairs are wood except for bedroom and dining room. Lower level is carpet. The leaky dryer vent is possible. We haven't cleaned our dryer vent but it is on the to-do list. The dryer is upstairs and the vent comes down into the storage room next to a furnace duct, turns, and follows along side the furnace. It does show some collection of dryer lint around it. (Hopefully this will motivate my husband to clean the vent.) Pictures attached. How would this dust get upstairs? On a sunny day I did notice the air in the room above the path of the vent looked as though I could see the dust particles in the sun streaming in the windows. Had never seen it before. The HVAC company came out yesterday to look and didn't see any problems (I didn't think about the dryer) but he did mention the filters were facing the opposite direction. However, that would have been true even before the coil was replaced. He also said that the filters were collecting dust and it was true it wasn't as clear as new filters but not at all what my experience in the past has been with these filters. So the dryer vent seems a logical explanation. Would have to figure out how it is getting into the ducts and moving through the house.

Look behind the dryer and you can see if the flexable connection is leaking. Lint will be everwhere. The dryer filter does not catch all of the lint. Should clean the dryer filter after each use. The entire dryer vent should be cleaned at least once a year. Air movement will carry the dust and lint all over the house. Top of the refrigerator will catch a lot. It has a small magnetic force on its service. Is the filter opening sealed off? You might have to have the duct work cleaned. Even replace some of the flex duct if it full of dust and lint. Duct cleaning does not get it all out of the flex. Could have the whole house cleaned by a professional

Will check th dryer. Have had the ducts cleaned twice after we moved in. But why would the dust show up now just after changing out the heat pump to a a/c unit and replacing coupon furnace? When you say is the filter op ending seLed off do you mean furnace. See picture I posted of it

When you changed the furance the new one could have more CFM and was able to move the dust and lint into the house. The flex wholes these particals until it is moved. Might have someone take a few of the flex lines lose and check. As i wrote earlyier it is almost impossible to get dust and lint out of flex. Take the ones lose closest to the furance. That dust was brought into the house somehow

the only flex hose that I am aware of is from the dryer into the wall. After that it is aluminum ? as shown in the picture. Just to clarify, we did not replace the furnace but only the coil. This is the second coil we replaced on this furnace in 11 years and this one is a higher efficiency which we can really see on our electric bills. There was a question at the time whether it would fit as it is oversized for my unit but upon inspection they said it would fit. Is it possible there is a problem with the fit of this larger coil?

Here is a picture of the dust accumulated around my Christmas decorations so less than a month which is extreme even when I have the windows open and getting field dust blowing in (we're in the country).

Will check the dryer. Have had the ducts cleaned twice after we moved in. But why would dust show up now after changing out the heat pump to an a/c unit and replacing the furnace coil? That's pretty coincidental. When you ask, 'is the filter open end sealed off' do you mean furnace filter? See picture I posted of it. Sorry about the Siri post and it's misspellings.

We have cleaned the dryer vent. There was a lot of lint but it is a 20' run to the outside. When my husband retired he moved his office furniture, files etc to the storage room directly below the laundry room. He said that when he cleaned the dryer duct it caused dust in this area so there must be a leak somewhere. What is the best way of finding a leak? I'm wondering when they changed some of the furnace ducts, they may have drilled into the dryer vent. If you can see from the pictures, the vent is sandwiched in between Hvac ducts so could very well be the source. The problem is you can't see the pipe except for a small area. Any suggestions? The amount of dust that is collecting on the tv screens is alarming. Even the tv upstairs on the opposite side if the house.

Is the duct for the dryer metal or flex duct? if it is flex I have been able to fasten new flex to the old and. Then pull the old flex out and connect the new flex. Look at that lent or dust and you can tell what kind of material it is. The TV is like the fridg- it has a magnetic force on the service so it would draw the lent and dust.
