:mad:I went on a call this afternoon . I was up in the attic useing my testo 510 manometer.checked all areas and went to double check return side plenum.
my meter dropped from my hand and right into a emergency pan filled will water. this thing is just 30 days old and now is drying out.
The good news is I was able to sell a major duct renavation at this house along with a A/H.So to be able to pay back another testo 510 ,if i get no response in the morning. this 5 ton system has a brand new lennox condenser only.
the compressor valves are leaking at start up creating loud noises.
the airhandler is 20 years old with 2 10" uninsulated flex runs as the only returns.
Oh yea the clogged drain is what caused the emergency to fill up.
tomorrows another day...........................

I've been lucky a few times by taking the meter apart and letting it air dry for a couple of days, it's important not to try to turn it on until it drys...good luck!

Ouch...if it's any consolation, my cordless drill is currently draining itself of used vacuum pump oil---just turned my head fer a minute and plooop. Delightful sound I'm tellin' ya...

Sorry to hear about your meter, was it off when you dropped it?

I am not sure I understand the rest though; they are getting a new air handler and duct rework ... yes? Then you mention a condenser only? That testo is not that expensive, see if they will give you some relief wherever you purchased it.

Good luck.

If i drop electronics in water i pull the battery and put it in a bowl of rice for a day or two. Gets all the moisture out and then you might get lucky. But I've never tried it with a testing instrument yet so cant guranteee it wouldnt mess up the calibration.

On a side note my testo gauges are again reading -93 psi head preasure for the second time and not zeroing out.

turn your fan on continous and after pulling the battery place it over the floor grille. good luck..

Stir Fry Testo!

Good luck with the meter, hope it works OK.

my refrigerant scales got flooded from a bad storm while I was in an attic.... scale plate and indicator were both sitting in the case full of water...... just left them open for a few days and they work ok. Meters... have had a few bad storms rain on them. if you can open them up... (expose the guts ) you will get a better response for drying time.
my Son left his expensive a$$ ipod in his pants pocket... they got washed.... after a couple of weeks... it worked.. Battery just discharges really fast. Told him He cannot turn it on till it dries. Wife dropped her phone in OJ... I cant believe that that one still worked due to the acid content.

You probably already have the tools to dry it out, you just have to assemble it! I am just having a little fun at your expense, sorry! :') Get a pressure cooker, braze on an access valve to the lid where the knocker used to be. Place the testo inside the cooker, connect the vacuum pump & evacuate the moisture away!

I was over his sons house on a complete system i installed 3 years ago.
Some other tech told him he needed refrigerant and that he had a leak.
hard to believe my systems do not normally leak. Went there replaced thermostat.
The fathers system he has a company over like every month or two for repairs. His problem now was new condenser making loud noises.brand new lennox 13ACD-060-230-02
On start up compressor valves leaking but then runs normal.\in the attic I see a 20 year old A/H and very undersized ductwork, 7/8x38 line set 40ft and 10 ft not insulated in attic.
I informed him that the comprssor may completly fail if it keeps doing this on start up.
ductwork, return air uninsulated plenum as well as 2pc 10"going to a 24x24 filter grill static pressor (.8)
supply 20x12 with all 6" supplys coming off.with leaks every where static .02
