So, I failed with my purchase of Mastercool Digital Gauges. I will be returning them tomorrow. What digital manifold gauges do you use, like and recommend? I'm not new to the industry (20 years experience) but I am just now moving into the world of digital diagnostics. I've looked at the Fieldpiece units and I'm not impressed. I've also seen a few guys using Refco and Testo. I like the Testo 557 4-way manifold, but I want the feedback from the guys who are already finding success in their tools.

Can you help me out with a few suggestions?

If my 1250 ever dies I'll be getting a AK900
Problem is I don't think I can wait that long :)

jpnb you may want to check on the weather tightness of the 557
The other day I had my DC connected with a short hose to a rtu charged it and went to other things.
When I got back water was pouring out all over my gauges because of the spot it was hanging.
I just left it be. Probably done dozens if not hundreds of other stupid things like that and it doesn't phase them. You don't need to baby the Digi-Cools

I have 2 Testo 550's. My first set is 2.5 years old and went back for service do to the static issue. Other than that both sets have been rained on too many times to count with no adverse issue. Maybe I have been lucky ? If one of my 550's fail I will probably pick up one of the digi cools just because the good reviews.

Deheat,

Enjoy! The AK900's are an awesome set of digitals. You don't have to baby them...they are rough and rugid!

I have reviewed (on this site) a majority of digital gauges on the market and the AK900's are my favorite.

Report back after you've used them a bit and let us know how you like them.

Not to take anything away from Fieldpiece. FP has top notch customer service. Probably the best in our industry.

Just a bit of input from experience.

Don't leave those clamps connected to the AK all the time.

IMO, that is what leads to many, if not most of the complaints about sensor breakage with these units.

It only takes but a few seconds to connect them as needed.

I really like the DC AK900 but I went ahead and tried the Testo 557. Every complaint I've heard about the Testo is the temp sensors. I don't leave my digital gauges assembled all the time so I'm not over stressing the connections which leads to failures
