thanks bud, but thats not it,

the reg i have has a female lose nut to connect to a male nipple.

the nitrogen bottles here have a male nipple slightly bigger than that needed to connect to my co2 reg.

co i need an male co2 connection to a female nitro connection, both with a flat end finish, not a cone like argon and acetylene regs have

In Australia we have different fittings for nitro and co2 bottles, not interchangable.
I dont know if theres an adaptor but you could maybe swap the fitting and stem on the regulator to fit the bottle you want to use, take your reg down to BOC or somewhere like that and tell them what you want to do.
Another issue you may run into though is BOC will most likely tell you that the seals in nitro and co2 regs are different and may fail...
What brand of reg have you got?

Most good welding supply houses will have the nipple and nut you need, just swap out the nipple and you're good to go

But you might want to take the nipple and regulator with you, here in the States most are 1/4 iron pipe thread, I was going to do it a while ago, but the regulator was made, guess where china, and it had some wierd thread, maybe metric
