Hi! I have an Amana PBH113g35CC mini PTAC. It was installed last November and heated well all winter. A couple of days ago I turned it on to "cool" and it started up, but an hour later it threw an E8 code and just blew like a fan. If I trip the plug it starts up again, only to go to E8 again. Any idea what this code is referring to? Thanks! Phil

Hmmm, I just removed the front cover (which has been somewhat difficult to get one top tab in - and it feels tight) and the darn thing started right up and cooled very well. Maybe the cover is pinching something? It's only 67 degrees outside now - when I have the trouble, it's been 80 or so. I'll try it later when it warms up.

Well, it's done it again (twice). I finally found a list of error codes and it says E8 is "Condenser anti-high temperature protection".
If condenser temperature is too high several times in short time, the unit will enter into this protection, this means the unit can not continue running. Unplug, plug in and turn on power, unit will exit the protection.

What would cause high temperature in the condenser? Does it just need a new one?
Thanks!

Thank you, Sir. I looked into the warranty and unfortunately, it says the unit cannot have been bought online and it had to be installed by a pro. I bought it online and pulled my old heat pump and slid this new one into the old sleeve.

I have the schematic now and see many sensors - I'll study it and try to figure out which one to swap out. This morning it's been running in heat mode for 2 hours so I assume the motors are OK.
