Hello All,
I am installing an A/C Coil on the top of a Gas furnace, but the drain lines and Lineset connections are blocked by the exhaust from the furnace. What are the repercussions of installing the coil facing the back of the furnace?

The instructions say to install facing the front of the furnace and yes it is cased.

I'm an apprentice, the instake PVC is right in the way of the drains and the linset hookups.

this is kind of common. where is the lead tech? there should be room for fittings. isn't anyone there with you?

to match the evaporator coil being backwards.

The lead tech is the one installing it backwards... The manual says to install it with the ports in the front of the furnace. I don't want to learn anything incorrectly, so I decided to take to the internet and that's how I found this page.

I wouldn't see a problem. The coil box should fit both ways and be identical either way. Unless someone has invented a coil that can't be done that way.

Very funny... i am sure about the drain pan and the airflow. Yes the fan spins the right way, unless I hook up the electrical backwards and the condenser has no problem being installed correctly.

Thank you, I just want to make sure I'm learning the right way. I've seen too many people leave kinks in line sets and other shotty work, I'd rather take the extra time, get a 90 degree PVC for the primary and secondary drains and an elbow for the intake PVC to the furnace so the line set won't run into the intake.

But... If there is no problem with turning around the coil, we would be good to go. There's 15 feet of charge and the condenser is going to have exactly 15 feet of line set.

We screw with everybody, not just the new guys. That would be discrimination.

We have several coils facing northbound on southbound furnaces. Some of these guys are really careful with FNGs. Make sure you talk the talk then they will give you a break at +15 posts.
