i
am
speechless...

3 kinds of tape, maybe 6 or so screws, a menagerie of flex, a panel here a panel there, eieio

I need the cheapest solution.
you already have that. now you have to spend some more to get it right.

forum wouldnt let me edit -

i looked up the furnace installation manual for your unit. it REQUIRES 2 (two) air returns for that btu size. either both sides or 1 side and the bottom. it's all in the book that's probably still in the plastic baggie...

i'd bet that tape cant hold together the box he builds to put the furnace on... maybe reinforced duct tape'll do it...

since you dont really want to fix it, this thread is useless and should be closed. we cannot and will not condone 'jerry rigging' anything.

the installation manual is provided with the furnace ask your installer. the downloadable guide is from the tech's part of the manufacturer's site and cannot be provided to a non-tech. it's not my rules, it's theirs, and i try to follow them.

I don't mean as to incorrectly patch an incorrect installation. If somebody can adjust the setup by adding more supply and return I don't see how that is dangerous. Granted it's oversized and I just got off the phone with a tech and he said furnace purchase alone is $..........
I am looking to educate myself as much as possible to exhaust all options starting with the cheapest ...... I've been shafted by many service people from mechanics to roofers.
replacing the flex and adding supplies/returns is probably the least costly of all your options. is it a good fix? no. is it the proper fix? no. will it be a pretty and neat job? hell no.

in the long run the proper sized furnace will be the most cost effective option. ask your local tech about financing.

he could get almost full price...it's hardly used and been durability tested in a harsh environment...
