Thats just sad. That HO should be going to court over that one. I would want a complete new system installed from scratch.

The tough thing for Rifter which was the same thing I used to deal with was the fact that 90% of the hackery we were showing you was installed by the company we were working for!

Imagine seeing the most hideous installs when you go to do the first PM on it, then having to look the customer in the eye when you are done and hand them paperwork saying that the system is a-ok.

You can't speak up about it in front of the customer, or you will get in trouble.

And at some companies, like the one here in the grand Canyon State, the office people don't want you bad mouthing the install even to them!

Then someone should be reporting them to the local authorities. I cant believe PHX has a licensing system and that is the type of work that is put out there. And yet when I am there I can't buy any parts because I don't have a state license. Bunch of BS.

Hackmaster Az..

If I walked up on that I would agree, take a few pictures, but I would send a copy and distributor in that area.

That is the kind of work that gives hvac a bad rap.

Hack installer's there is no way that that unit is charged right or can cool , TXV is on bottom rows with NO airflow. Damn, I would have shut system down and called the installation company. And told them house damaged due to there crap installation and they would have come out and then I would ask them what the F!@#$%.:mad::mad:

All you havce to have is a business licsence and tax ID.

They don't enforce ANYONE to know what they are doing.

The problem is they (local authorities) do NOT enforce permits or inspections of installations.

And in cases such as Rifter and I, most of this witnessed hackery was from the very companies that we worked for.

The last joint I worked for argued up and down that their installs were fine.
Yet got mad at me for posting pictures of it in the wall of shame! :D

Once I quit that job, I went global and posted them all on youtube.
Anyone that finds my HVAC videos shall know what a hackfest it is in this area.

I have seen the boss hire installers that have worked in the field for a around 2 to three years do messed up crap like this. I was told to keep a close eye on them which resulted in the "doobie boys" installer team being fired. You have to check behind their work take the extra time to check it. Perform Drug Screens.
I too figured random drug tests would prevent a lot of this kinda stuff.....then again, if a lot of companies did, they would have no work-force at all.:D

Now let me ask you something, do the installers out there read and understand English?

I see screw ups from time to time, but this looks like someone even screwed up the fix a couple of times. Didn't anyone notice half the coil is blocked by the coil laying in the drain pan?

This looks like a Gibson unit, they have a little kick stand wire thing, that is supposed to be lifted to hold the coil up, out of the drain pan.

To bad they did not have digital cameras in the old days.

I once saw two 5 ton air handlers hanging back to back, both were installed upside down, that is with the drain pans at the top of the unit.
The installer had take the time to reverse the units, by then hung them in the wrong positions. Later the installer came back and installed safety drain pans under both units.

Btw, I was not on the call to fix these units, my call was to repair a process steam boiler in the same plant. The plant manager was happy with the cooling install.
