I have never tried a serial port dongul [like the earlier NSTs] with NST V but I don't think they will work [that is not the "Carrier way"]. The new USB powered adapter is a paperback book sized plastic box that has multiple buss connection options for different connectors. NST V looks for this adapter to run. NST V looks a lot like Comfortview except it has address seach and the other NST functions.

Hi Ausccn, I tried to get the service tool v from carrier, but there was no hope in hell. So I'm trying a different way. If I get the software program, apparently I need the usb/ccn adapter to run it. Is this right? If so, where could I purchase the adapter from? It seems as though, tech's overseas can easy call Carrier and purchase it through them. Why is that so, and do you think that we could purchase it from them as well? Would you have any contacts I could get it touch with? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

We bought ours through our Carrier Distributor CNF which has sold out to Watsco, now CE. We would now have to purchase CCN controls [if we want to use them] from our competitors at Carrier BSS.

AFAIK you need the USB Adapter. It also functions as the key for the software like the parallel port one for NSTIV or the purple key for CView.

CCN Service Tool V package

Hi ccnster, Wondering if you could help me out, I'm trying to find out where I could purchase the latest Service Tool V software. Would there be anywhere in the states where I could get it. Your help greatly appreciated.
Carrier seems to have several levels of hierarchy here in Toronto Canada. Calling the parts department gets me no where. I finally spent several minutes getting shuffled through their commercial section and found a fellow who would take my company PO number for the CCN package. About 3 years ago that was about $600 Canadian.

Carrier Australia should be able to help you out. Otherwise you can try other countries.

You get a CD, USB cable and a black box. A 6 pin phone jack cable helps if you have to connect directly to a field device. I don't recall if the jack ends reverse on it or not but I can look at mine when you get your package. Read and re-read the instructions on installing it on your laptop. They are very specific.

Good luck,

D.
