Hey guys/gals,

My YJ micron gauge (YJ model 69075, vintage spring of 2007) quit over the weekend... though I would ask others if they have seen the same issue and what the repair is...

I was doing a tripe evac... did the first down to 1000 microns... then did the second down to 1000 microns... then when I turned on the 69075 to read the third time down, it shows '0'... that is one zero, nothing else.

I pulled the battery and counted to 10... re-installed... no change.
I changed the battery... no change.
I removed the sensor from a hose and left it open to air... no change.

My gut says the sensor is bad... I should just get a new sensor and install...

Anyone have this issue? THX in advance for any help!

i would have done exactly what you have allready done..... i have the same as you do.... if it happend to me, it would be a time to go tool shopping!! :) and i would def have to get the bluvac

As a last resort clean the sensor with rubbing alcohol. My sensor was acting goofy once and nothing I did would fix it. Before I went and bought a new sensor I cleaned it and all is well now. That was a year ago. If you are in the market for a new one, I will say that the Bulvac does look interesting.

Already cleaned it twice... no change. I think the sensor is dead...

What I was looking for was if anyone had been down this road before... and getting '0' (one zero) was what the screen says when the sensor fails... and bought a replacement sensor and it worked.

I am hesitant to pay $80+ for a new sensor on a hunch... If I KNEW it was the sensor fine... If not... it could be money down the drain.

The Bluevac does look really good... might just take the plunge.

THX again for all the help, and for anyone yet to post with help!

Hi, GA.

If you have any questions about the BluVac, I'd be happy to answer them here, or I can talk to you personally over the phone.
How about you send me a PM or Email with contact info (it is not in your profile)... addy is in my profile. THX!
Whoops... only Pro members can do PM's unless Dave has changed it recently.
Might send an Email to Dave Lusker and ask about pro status... as a manufacturer, I think you could get it.

One question to you....do you use a ball valve on the micron gauge to prevent the N2 pressure from hitting the sensor? these sensors do not like to be hit with pressure.

Good question! Generally, I close the valve on the 4 valve manifold before pressure goes into the system again... However as we all know... mistakes happen. Honestly, the sensor has been hit with pressure a few times... probably a couple hundred PSI a few times also.

Does this cause the sensors to fail... and is one zero '0' what the scale shows when the sensor fails? THX!

Follow-up...

I found a tech support number for YJ... called and talked to a helpful person there. Yes, it is the sensor... ordered one. Should be here Monday.

THX to all for your input and support.

Did the tech say anything about not hitting it with pressure? If you connect it to a core remover ball valve, you'll probably be better off.
Yes, the guy at YJ said the sensors do not like pressure... He said it will not hurt it once or twice... it is the SURGE of pressure that affects it the most... And it does not like R-410 pressures.

I think I did good with the unit lasting from 4 years... outside of batteries this is the first issue I have had with it.

I do like the case it is in... I keep a few other goodies in the case with the sensor.

THX again for all the input from others, it is most appreciated!
