Hello,

This is the second time it happened and I am not sure if it is something I need to call someone.

Need some advice.please I am in DFW. 4 ton trane 2 years old. Split system.

When I felt hot, I found that the fan was running on at low speed and outside until stopped working. I am not sure if it actually never worked. Thermostat showed AC was on. When I turned AC off from thermostat and turned it back on, (it waited some minutes till it came back) everything started working again..

This is the second time it happened. Not sure if that is a matter of a simple faulty thermostat or control board or something major that needs service.

With holiday coming up, I would need a working system. Please let me know what you think.

You probably reset an error with the unit when you reset the thermostat. Probably best to get it checked over.

Thanks. I never thought of the error code. I guess i will go to the attic to see what kind of code I get, when it happens again. then call a tech to tell the code.. or should I just call a tech? It was serviced last year but not this year yet.

Call a tech for sure... if you just call with a code, they will have to see it to diagnose it anyway and won’t be able to tell you much.

You might get a little info by doing an Internet search for the code though. What you can do yourself is make sure your air filters are clean, hose down outdoor condenser coil NOT using a pressure washer, and you can use a wet/dry shop vac to vacuum the condensate drain line.

This can take care of many issues and is pretty much the full extent of what a homeowner should do workout a tech. Most everything else can be dangerous.

****

A technician can do a lot better maintenance getting things cleaner and completely check the system over as well as diagnose and correct most common problems on the spot.

Call a tech, they should be able to see the fault history.
Not all have recall ability.

For this reason, homeowner should try to check code before resetting or don't reset it.

It happened today again and I do not see anything in the furnace. Just blinking regularly. Well.

What kind of techs can see the codes?

Also what would be the common reasons?

I changed filters, cleaned condensers as suggested. I looked at evac coil and looks clean.

I am afraid of leak or wrong install. I was not very happy with workmanship of the new system but does cool down house nicely.

Can low freon or overcharge cause this? They added more freon when they came to install dampers ( had air flow issues making one area hot) Still a new family new system.

I would like some ideas if any

I texedt the original installer to schedule a visit. But thinking of calling a trane dealer as well.

Thanks

If you had airflow issues, adding refrigerant will not compensate and will even cause further issues.
The error will not show on the furnace.

That was quick. Thanks

Curious why the system would come back to work after reset? Does it have any with freon charge?

I am just hoping for easy and cheap fix

It could possibly be a charge issue, yes.

Got it. This is as far as I have from previous.

Model is 4TTR4048L1000AA with 4TXCB006DS3HCAA coil

When it was installed
91 degree 81 dry bulb 70 wet bulb head pressure 352 suction 150 superheated 14, sub cool 10 TD 20

Last year service call shows head pressure 360 suction 145 superheat 14 sub cool 10. He did not write temp but it was around 95 outside dry weather

Temp difference is 20 to 25 from return to supply when I check with later gun.

What exactly is the blinking and what does the reference chart indicate that blinking means?
