York vs Trane

So I don't know much about York, I currently have a Trane and am looking to replace it. Both systems are 3.5 ton with 10 year warranties and the prices are very similar. I guess my question is who has better quality, I have honestly had alot of issues with the Trane I currently have (though I really blame the company that installed it).

I prefer my equipment to be at least assembled in the US
And so do I, which begs the question is York or Trane actually made in the USA? I would personally pay a bit more for a product that is if it is better quality.

My other question is service parts, while I have had major issues with the Trane, getting parts has not been one of them. If I went with York and something broke are parts normally easily available (the sales person said they were but it's not like he would say they were not)?

York is now offering a factory backed 10 parts and labor warranty at a fantastic price. Something to ask about. They are still assembled in the US.

You could search for York distributors in your area and see how far they are. Anything within 1 hour is reasonable.

The above does not mean I do not like Trane, but the factory backed warranty York offers is very tempting over a third party warranty company most manufacturers use.

With all of the brands to choose from, I chose Trane for my home. Then again, I installed properly sized ducting, and the installation was performed per mfg. instructions using proper practices.

There's a lot of ways to cheapen or shorten the time of an installation. Those short cuts cause premature failures.

I'm an American Standard/Trane fan. Not much experience with York, rare around here. Both companies are based in Ireland (must not have to pay taxes there or something) and both make their stuff in America.

Looked up both parent Companies, Ingersall Rand is based in Dublin, Johnson Control in Cork, it's interesting as UTC ( United Technologies Corporation ) has a Research Center ( along with several other locations one being in East Hartford Ct. Others in China, Italy and California as I have a friend that works at the CT. Location ) in Cork since 2010. Odd that two of the three mentioned would happen to be in the same township and not possible share Technology amounts those three at least?

I like york equipment, I am not a fan of microchannel coils they use on ac units, but they work well.
10 year factory labor is great, but I haven't needed to use it yet.

Absolutely NOTHING is as important as the company's installation practices.

Research that first.

The last new York unit I saw was last it was a commercial box car unit with a sticker on it that said made in Mexico on it.
I would install a Trane in my own house I wouldn't install a York in my house even if it was given to me. As far as warranties I know it is a bit of piece of mind but in all honesty you shouldn't need your warranty at all in the first 10 years. I remember when Goodman came out with their lifetime compressor warranty lol.

Was it a YPAL? They mostly come out of the plant in Monterey.
Although they still have a good presence in the US with several plants.
