What was the OD temperature when you had 225 head pressure and the indoor temperature when you had 88 PSI suction. I would clean your reasonably clean coils to clean, if the system worked fine for the 3 years prior, and he said no one worked on it prior to you then to me the piston metering device worked prior, due to your high suction pressure and being a recip. Bristol compressor? I would pump the system down as much as you can getting the low side to a few psi above 0 PSI ( if possible ) then let it sit to see if the suction holds.
