The Pittsburgh PrideFest will hold its 30th annual march today, and gay-rights activist Edward Dice will be marching in it, as usual.

Dice, who with his partner cofounded Persad Center as a mental health center for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people in western Pennsylvania more than 30 years ago, says he will see gay friends there -- not marching, but anonymously waving from the sidelines, as usual.

In this city that serves as the setting for Showtime's television show "Queer as Folk" -- which is filmed in Toronto -- Dice sees a gay populace that has blazed a trail into the regional political sphere but still is willing to accept "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" as a mantra.

Branden Dudek, 22, agrees.

Something to argue about.....

What is the best method for fishing right after a rainstorm. I like to put a small treble hook on, with a split shot about 18 inches up. I throw it in the water, sit down and drink and talk for a while. I put on a new worm every few hours. THIS IS THE BEST METHOD. Wanna argue about it?

Perhaps the longevity of Diceman’s notations could be attributed to his intrinsic ability to hone in on the psychological and physiological temperament of the thermodynamic practitioners that gather here. Or maybe not.

Wow. Like that's cool. Like I've been sitting here looking at my light bulb for 20 minutes now, since I read your words. And, like, it's groovey. Like the world is made of this stuff, ya know. And we are all just stuff, ya know. So it's like you are me and they are we. So we're like the same stuff so if I see something it's like you see something. But, wow, we see the different somethings in the same way, ya know.

And, like the fishin thing. OK I can see where that like is one of those metawhores or something. So it's like you tellin me something and I don't get it but then I get it. And, bammmmmmn, it's like in front of me. And it was, like, there all the time.
