With the low temps and such that we are having, a small leak can be disastrous, real quick. I didn't think that a #210 leak was a big shock. When cases are warm, I'm usually over 400 to get back online, expecially in the wintertime.

Consistently monitoring the liquid level can really only be accomplished by a controller, and, unless they use a remote alarm monitoring company, even then, it is unreliable at best.

We have had stores with repeat leaks that monitor their levels very well, but, human nature is to take the easiest path. After a couple of weeks of checking it twice or three times a day, it drops to once a day, then every other day, then maybe once or twice a month, if the manager remembers.

Ideally, the store should not have to think about their refrigeration equipment. It has been my experience that the more they are paying attention to the cases, the more DUMBA$$ service calls that I get.

If, and this is a BIG if, I have a good manager, with a level head, I will call and talk to them about checking pressures on controllers, liquid gauges, alarm lights, temp logs and stuff like that.

Otherwise, they need to just stay out of the mechanical room.
Ditto that. Also you could set up a electronic level indicator and have the controller dial out [that's if it has a modem].

Sounds like some venting going on....:mad::mad: I think if he had brought you an Egg McMuffin things could have been better.
