First, I'd like it to be known that I'm not necessarily venting......and definitely not trying to throw stones here, but I had a "situation" come up this weekend and I'm wondering if my thoughts are justified is all.
I got a call at 0800 yesterday from a supermarket about 30 minutes from home. The said rack 2 was alarming on low refrigerant and the dairy cases were at +70F.
Right away my little "high gear" button gets pushed and I'm 0 to 60.....right now!!
I called the wholesale house after hours number.....figuring I'd better get a substantial quantity of R22 before attempting a 30 minute drive and looking like an idiot for not having enough refrigerant to get the rack up and running.
The guy tells me it's gonna be AT LEAST an hour and a half before he can get into the wholesale house.
Now, I'm thinking this is totally unacceptable and ask for the branch managers phone number.....I call.....no answer.
With no other choice, I wait......and wait......and wait.
The guy finally pulls in at around 0930 with his 2 children in the car. No big deal I thought....heck, I've taken young son on service calls with me before so how can I get on this guy for it (even though I know it takes time to get a couple of 6/7 year olds ready to go).
At this point I don't feel it is appropriate to tell the guy in front of his children just what I think of the slow response time and decide to drop it. Then he goes on to tell me how he had to stop at McDonald's for breakfast with the kids................

About and hour after I get to the supermarket the branch manager finally calls me back and asks me if I got my supplies ok. When I told him I did, but I've got a rather upset customer on my hands due to a 2 hour response time to his store - he simply tells me, "Well, it's Sunday you know....they've gotta understand".
So, I start to think maybe I'm the one not being reasonable here and maybe my "high gear" button caused me to have unrealistic expectations as to how long it should take to open up a wholesale house. My gut tells me a 30 minute response time would be fine.......60 minutes would be slow, but still acceptable......but 90 MINUTES???
What do you think? Is 90 minutes the norm? Should I rearrange my way of thinking here?
