Ok great refer gods, Tell me did I miss something?

W/I freezer box, been empty and down for 1 week in 100 degree plus weather.
Trashed comp wont pump, all old and rusted.

Customer said new cond unit. Evap is a Larkin ELT106 rated at 10600 btu at -10. match condensing unit with it AVA2510ZXTXC 3 Ph 404A.

New filter dryer, filled site glass, replaced txv with 1/2 to 1 ton txv.

99 degrees amb, low side 45 , high side 385, suction temp at evap 30 degrees
suction temp at comp 45 degrees, txv adjusted wide open, cant get superheat down, after 3 hours run time box temp still not below 32 degrees , box is on the outside open to enviormenet with the white rubber roof

heating elements NOT energized! Unit pumps down fine and quick!
Should have added evap only frosting 3/4 the way up!

Any inputs!

Sun has got my brain!!!!

generally walkin boxes are not designed for pulldown in that kind of environment, it will take at least 48 hrs or longer to get to temp, just keep babying it. all that heat in the walls has to be pulled out. be patient. those that install new boxes are aware of this.

I see two problems...

1) That condensing unit has inherent head pressure problems, I stopped using them a couple of years ago for that reason. Just not enough coil for hot climates. They make a twin fan model with the same compressor that is rated 2000 BTU higher, it works fine. I pitched a fit to Tecumseh about it and they quietly admitted that it doesn't do well in hot climates, maybe your distributor will work with you on switching to a twin fan unit.

The problem is made worse by the high suction, it's running your head up. Put in an MOP valve or use a crankcase regulator to limit suction to 35 PSI.

You may even have to mist water on the condenser to keep the head down until the box pulls down.

after 24 hrs it had pulled down to 12 degrees ( customer called to tell me ) havent had a chance to get back and check everything, swamped here! Not the way I like to do things but trying to keep all my regulars happy, not even taking new customer calls right now!
