Hey, if people don't like what's done in the schools, do something about it. My Mom did, way back when. My first vote as an adult and my Sisters were both for Mom in a school board election. Didn't get in on the first try, 2nd try and a couple of re-elections she was top vote getter and first women president. He!! of a lot of work too! Very rewarding!

As for keeping that mental case out...

One thing I do have to say though, we design processes to meet our needs. We have processes for enrolling kids in school etc. Who would have thought we'd need a process to keep sex offenders from enrolling as kids? Teachers are background checked but students?

I have a few customers with kids who are home schooled. Smartest kids I've ever seen, I mean I was blown away how smart these kids were, one was 15 and had gotten her diploma. But, they had no common sense or street smarts.

Kids need to learn from the school of hard knocks. The only way to get that and still lead a normal life and not end up in a mental hospital is to learn social skills in public schools. Social skills make the world go around.

Home schooling is for nerds. Someday they have to learn to adapt to the real world and interact with other people.
And there is no way you can teach certain subjects as well as teachers can.
Algebra, biology, chemistry, english, history.............yeah, I'm sure one mom really knows about all that to be able to really teach it. Maybe up till 3rd grade, but after that, forget it.

Well, I guess you see what you wanna see to justify the guilt you feel for relinquishing your duties as a parent to the government.
I did my duties as a parent, 3 times.
It included most of the time & effort my wife and I could muster for many years.
It does not include public education, thats why all countries have school systems. So far, they have produced the best & brightest people in the world.
There are bad kids and bad teachers just as there are bad parents too.
Public schools work, they ain't perfect but considering the daunting task, they do pretty damn good.

Got a friend from Singapore who travels the world regularly with his wife & young daughter... His daughter was to start Kindergarten... This is her first (and only I suspect because of her age, pushing 50 now) child and she appears to be the doting kind, never wants the child out of her site, ever. So he says "Lets home-school her so we can still travel, etc". His wife says "Are you nuts?!!! She's going to school like every other child should." End of discussion. She started in September.

Do you really think that for one minute, the public school system can offer a superior education to that of the parent who obviously has his childs best interests at heart? Public schools are failing our children every day as the number of homeschooling families continues to rise. Be prepared for a future generation of creative thinkers freed from the government institutionalized mold where they are told how to think, what to think, and are subject to the everlowering standards of achievement. Most homeschooled kids have a better education by age nine than some of you will ever have.

I am stating facts, two neighbors, 5 socially inept misfits....PERIOD!

I have not relinguished my duties as a parent...........you don't know me, to say that is irresponsible.

Both of my neighbors home school their kids.........

Both of them have the most socially inept children I have ever met!
Bob, This aint even funny! My daughter has been in a private school since 3.

A local boy called her ugly a few weeks ago. She was DEVESTATED! The wife wanted me to beat the boy and his daddy's butt over this. I was like, ya gatta be kidding me, this is the REAL world.

Lovey dovey in the private christian school. Most of us here were raised in the REAL world I would guess. Little girl has to learn it can be harsh out there in the real world.

I gatta do something, I'm not sure what, to be honest.

She is 11 years old, I gatta act fast.

Jeesh, my son was in public school, and was street smart, but poor grades. We are trying something different with our last child. I may have screwed up.

Sorry for the rant, but ya hit a nerve deeper than my wisdom tooth.
