I voted for Trane, but I should qualify the vote with some of my own limitations.

I'm an ME, not an installer. Many in here have infinately more hands on than I do. I am a VERY hands on person, I'm just saying I don't install and/or service furnaces for a living like many in here do.

Within the circle of people in the industry I discussed this with before I (with a tech's help) put in a new furnace in my own house, Trane got the thumbs up more than other brands. I'm sure there was bias in those opinions as well.

I'm sure Byrant is a great make - but I have not seen their (residential) stuff with my own eyes installed and running.

I have seen other brands installed and running in friend's and colleages houses - and let's just say I would still get Trane equipment if I had to choose again. :)

Carrier makes nice stuff, right on par with Trane, according to many in this Forum.

Maybe I shouldn't have voted. :)

Be very clear on this (it was mentioned already):

Trane and other manufacturer's systems can all be set up dual fuel, with stage 1 heat being the heat pump exclusively.

I have an XV 95 and will soon have an XL15i set up like this. The switchover will be around 25 deg.

I'm just waiting on pulling the trigger on the hp purchase, the evap coil is already on the furnace. I'm propane heat only right now, and I love how the XV 95 runs and maintains temp so far. (It's only a few months old..)
