Trane xl15i installed spring 2011. 3 years only, and tubing in the outdoor condenser cool has worn through from rubbing on another tube it crosses. There are five potential failure points like this on my unit. This is an obvious design flaw, and I've talked with three installers who know about it causing failures. Yet Trane will only provide the specific piece that failed (coil), while I have to pay the labor of $. That's a substantial portion of the original cost, installed. It's the hottest, most humid time of the year, and I have to wait for 10 days or more for the part (not in stock), then pay the labor. Outrageous!!! Trane customer rep says that is all they are required to do, and offers nothing else. The full outdoor unit is available immediately, and the service labor cost is far lower (probably less than $. Why should I pay anything for repairing an obvious design flaw (I'm a reliability engineer)? Man-up, Trane, and do the right thing by replacing the outdoor unit immediately. You are making me pay the highest amount possible, and wait in discomfort, for a failure on your part. No more Tranes for me, unless this is handled properly and fairly!
