Hi everyone,
I'm new here and this is my first question on this site because I'm having a problem with another Trane CHHP. When replacing the compressor element, I did everything I could. I replaced the filter, cleaned the system where the gasket was settling, and reinstalled it. Finally, I fabricated the housing screws, slightly upwards so they could be tightened while draining the oil.

However, I'm having a problem with oil leaking from the housing... I don't know why. I tightened the screw with a hammer and a tool, and I don't know what could be causing these issues. Can you help?

Thanks for all the information and help with this update!

I stone or flat file the surfaces to insure flatness and removal of burrs. Correct gasket lightly oiled just prior to installation. Cross stepped torqued to spec.

Quit calling the bolts screws.

What do you mean by fabricated the bolts to be able to drain oil as you tighten?

If you had the bolts out the oil is already drained prior to tightening.

Not much to mess up with this one.

You either mutilated the mating surfaces, messed up the bolts, over/under torqued the plate

or did not clean/prep for the new gasket good enough.
