we are trying to build an new house in the Fort Worth area
here are the house particulars:
stucco
2x6 construction
foam insulation (not sure if we are doing the rafters or the joists)
low e windows (a lot face the south, 1st fl ones will be shaded by the balcony)
4,000 sf (2200 1st fl, 1800 2nd)
concrete barrel roof
west wall is spare room above the garage and of course the garage
First ac guy wants to install two 14 seer 5 ton units trane
Second wants to install two 16 seer 3.5 ton units ammana
Third wanted to install two 16 seer 3.5 ton units (but said ammana does not techinally make a 16 seer unit) but found 18 seer 4 ton units for just a little more than the 3.5 ton units .. so now he wants to use two 4 ton 18 seer units ammana
my first builder (denied by the bank - no fault of his they're really picky) wanted me to put in heat pumps, but isn't gas cheaper - especially in Texas?
it will cost me about $ dollars more to install the gas units in the attic if i foam the rafters because of venting...
any suggestions?
