Hi,
I have a Taylor 741 soft serve machine in my business.
The last few months it has tripped the beater motor reset almost daily at least once some days more. It will do it while it is sitting idle and not necessarily drawing product or at times while product is being drawn. When this happens I turn the power off , push the reset and turn power back on. Sometimes it will start working fine , other times it may take 2,3 or more times before it will run normal. sometimes after this not always you can smell a hot or burning smell.
I have had it looked at several times by the refrigeration company in my town.
they say the beater motor is fine i think they may have adjusted the reset button some how. but they cant seem to figure it out. Any ideas???? anyone seen this before. I don't have many options for repair in my area as i am located in rural Alaska.

Forum rules prevent us from offering technical advice.....my best advice would be to try and get a different company to come and service the machine. I realize this may not be easy to do because of distance, but if someone else can fix it, it may be worth it. Either that or keep calling the local company until they can figure it out.

It might not be the machine at all, but rather the wiring supplying the power to the machine in the wall. Could be pulling too many amps causing the machine to trip if the gauge of wire in the wall is too small or not a dedicated circuit for just that machine. If it is not the machine, I bet you have other devices/machines pulling amps off that same circuit your soft serve is plugged into causing it to trip.

As far as I know the reset is not adjustable, so there isn't really anything they could have done with that. Is there an authorized Taylor repair shop that could come look at it? When it comes to the operation and cleaning of these machines, it takes more than refrigeration knowledge. From what I remember about these machines (long time ago) they were very finicky on being cleaned and lubed properly. I would follow ZeroTolerance's advice first and make sure the problem is not elsewhere with the electrical. Just a thought, but could one of the beaters be bent and is binding?

Sounds to me like you have too small of wiring either in the machine, the plug to the machine, or in the wall. If you smell burning I would contact an electrician to come diagnose or you might not have much of a business anymore except for a huge barbeque pit.
