Happy New Year. Do you think it would be beneficial for everybody to allocate a different group where all the posts of various systems pro's and con's would be discussed, nothing else? Would it make sense?

probably not gonna happen...........

brand bashing is frowned upon with out substance

..........brand bashing is frowned upon with out substance
I never implied that in my post, I am only stating that healthy dose of all posts here deal with questions about systems in one shape form or another. As far as I am concerned those threads are boring and the questions brought up in them should be the last ones to consider when buying / installing new system.

Implied or not...This is your correct answer.

Why? Because when it comes to generalities on a system the thread is better read and accepted. Specific brand threads have a tendency to start out OK but be trashed and bashed by side chatter. Pro and con language will be brand specific. This forum is feed by Sponsorship monies and we do not/ cannot condone brand bashing, sponsorship or not. We do, however, discuss brand specific in the Professional Membership areas.

I appreciate you voicing your thoughts. I will also say there will be some major changes in the near future as to the way this site is set up and how things are discussed. Maybe this will help.

Ok, Mr. Admin. How about providing participants with ability to filter / ignore the whole thread / topic. It is much more effective and selective method than putting specific user on the "ignore" list. Did you think about that? Or the shelf software that is used here is not that "smart" after all. Inquiring minds want to know

Maybe a new forum just for the banned, and anyone else who wants to sign a release to enter "THE HELL FORUM", or something like that. The banned would only be able to access this forum and nothing else, but everyone else could excercise their freedom of choice to enter and hear the banned excercise their right to free speech. I hate seeing people just totally shut up here by being banned, but wouldn't mind them being relocuted to a specific forum just for them 'til they learn how to behave with the rest.

Inquiring minds need to be patient and wait for new software.
O--h--h--h….Great Almighty, inquiring minds will be patient but they still have couple burning questions. Why those minds (and some of them have pretty good heads on their shoulders with extensive knowledge and advanced degrees / education w/o actually being a part of your domain) have limited access, i.e. they can't read pro forums and they are being held on a short leash as if they are still in a kindergarten. What's up with that? Why such a discrimination?

If you don't qualify for a Professional Membership then you will never know what is in the limited access areas. Your burning questions will have to wait for a very long time until you do have the proper advanced degrees or actual job experience or can prove you are a mechanical student of the trade (and yes, we contact the school administrator for verification). If you want to call it discrimination then so be it, you still don't have access and won't until you qualify.

Hmm…very interesting and provocative thought, though I was not aware that "banning" was such a serious systemic problem. And if it is indeed reached those levels, I would like to know why people are banned from this board besides their bad taste, dirty language and self promotion reasons.

Are there other "offences" one should be aware off when posting to this board? I really would like to know because, as far as I am concerned, free speech was one of our most cherished heritages, though maybe this board is an exception? Am I wrong?

To tell you the truth, I have seen so many ridiculous and inept posts from pro members, that I feel they should be stripped from their pro status and should become plain / regular mortals with "ex pro member" in their avatar. But I would not ban them though they completely deserve that fate. I am sorry to say that but if you start banning or restricting access based on stupidity and knowledge then you won’t have anybody left.

LOL... What's wrong with my attitude? Did I offend anybody here by speaking the truth? So, should I be "politically correct" even discussing things of technical nature? Should we turn the science into politics??!! Is that what you want??

So having Master degrees in Geophysics & Computer Information Science will not be sufficient to qualify for the pro member on your board? Right?
Nope doesnt look like it... Dont they have a forum for geophysics?

Neither a Geophysics nor Computer Information degree, Masters or not, do not equip you to work on or design HVAC equipment, in fact those degrees probably mean you cannot turn a screwdriver in the right direction.

And yes you do have an attitude and it is showing through; one banning offense is to publicly argue with a moderator or Administrator.

As far as this being a free country and you or others having free speech you are correct, however this site is a private enterprise and as such has the right to dictate behavior of its participants.

Oh, so now I'm not the "Great Almighty" anymore? You lowered yourself to actually ask a normal question without sarcasm? That's a nice touch. I've read all of your postings and the meat of your agenda here is cynicism to be sure.

I will now politely answer your question. Your CIS will gain you no influence with our Membership Committee, however your Master in Geophysics may although it's a far reach.

Contact the committee by clicking HERE and following the instructions. Send to the committee a copy of or proof of degree when you apply. They are a fair group and will attend to you professionally.

Enjoy your weekend...
