I have a drop in front line that is holding food at 43-44 at max setting. Uses 134A says 19.75 oz. I have added refrigerant and have ice on suction lines and in drop box with a ambient temp of 26 inside drop box. Should I discharge and vacuum out the line and recharge or am I missing something obvious?

If that is one of the older designs with a single cap tube (which it sounds like it is) then they need to run around 1-4 pisig suction to have any hope of getting a pan temperature to satisfy an inspector. That air temp around the pans should be 21-24°F.

In 2003 Duke went to R404A and an automatic expansion valve (AEV) with a 3 tube feed along with a new tri-channel evaporator configuration. The customer really needs to get a new unit that will work.
