I want to install some Halo 6" recessed lighting. But I have a small problem, I am hoping for some idea's on some solutions or suggestions. I was in my attic scoping out what I need to do for doing the electric for the lights. This the part that I am lost in seems my ceiling has "ladder boards" with plaster (old days) and, it has been sheet rocked over using 1/2 panels. This brings me a full 1inch the can light for the remodel has latches that only go up to 5/8". So this makes a problem. So, my suggestion..
Cut a block of the old "ladder board" plaster ceiling part out, leaving the sheet rock there and cut my 6 3/8 hole for the canned light and install that way. This will make it at only 1/2' well within the 5/8' max to snap the hooks to hold the light in place.
So please, any suggestions, ideas?
