New construction, system has Carrier Infinity Touch control. It shows the outdoor air quality. I assume it picks up this information from some online source rather than actually measuring anything. Is that correct?
Is there anyway for it to measure indoor air quality?
There is also a Renewaire ERV which has it's own control attached to the furnace. It doesn't look like the Infinity control connects to the ERV. Is that the normal way to do it?
I'm thinking of getting a CO2 monitor and using that to enable/disable the ERV, maybe through Home Assistant. Had anyone done that?
And finally the ERV comes with MERV 8 filters but I read in the owners manual that MERV 13 are available. Would there be any benefit to going with the MERV 13 filters? Would they cause more load on the ERV fan motor?
Thanks!

With an ERV it would be the same principle with any air handling unit unless it's designed for higher rated merv filters I wouldn't advise it without verifying proper static pressures prior to the switch as well as after if the static pressure is below rated and for the infinity control it has a tremendous amount of sensors built into it and the equipment that communicates with it feeds it info depending on if you have an infinity furnace and a/c or one or the other really depends on the answers

I have an Infinity controller, no CO2 controller. I have used several different independent CO2 controllers. Also using a merv13 filter is should not be a problem on the ERV with a CO2 controller unless the CO2 levels are above the setting.

One word of caution, I have yet to use an ERV for fresh air ventilation that the a/c is able to maintain 50%RH in the homes located in "a green grass climate during normal mild seasons without providing supplemental dehumidification. Evenings and rainy days require 1-3 lbs per hour of supplemental dehumidification. Units like the Sante Fe Ultra/Broan/Trane/etc. can be connected to the ERV/a/c to maintain <50%RH. These units also use merv 13 air filters.

Keep us posted on how everything works.
